How Long and How Tall - Patrick Wass
Mungo, no hero, feels a strong desire to lose his virginity. He tries to ignore the fact that he was named after his mother's deceased dog, and finds it difficult to believe that he is over six feet tall. University offered opportunities but no success. Jo-Anne and a dog left scars. Daphne's corsetry was a challenge too far. Fiona had only warmed his feet, whilst Annabel had almost destroyed them. Anthea's immersion was too much for his stomach. A trip to India should solve the problem. Kashmir is romantic and beautiful. Nancy is available and keen, but Mungo is distracted. The landscapes of Ladakh and Zanskar are disconcertingly clear and arid, but become distorted when Birgit introduces him to Opium. Monsoon Varanasi is steamy and exotic. The Ganges is out of control as Mungo tries to achieve enlightenment with Judith. The front cover shows a bridge in Zansker, nr Phucktal Gompa at about 3850m. The bridge and the old woman with her load are mentioned in the story. Other titles available from Patrick : Athlete's Foot on my Hands and a Bear's Bottom on my Feet. A CD is also available 'Disconcerting Ways', contains songs about personal experiences in the developing world
